Buju Banton, la négociation aboutit

Il n'est toujours pas question qu'il sorte plus tôt et cela n'arrivera (à priori) malheureusement pas mais au moins il n'est plus question qu'il sorte encore plus tard : la condamnation de Buju Banton s'arrête bien à 10 ans. Il sera donc libéré en 2019.

En plus de sa condamnation à 10 ans de prison pour possession et trafic de cocaïne, Gargamel était en attente d'un autre procès; pour possession illégale d'arme à feu (un pistolet 9mm) cette fois.
A l'issue d'une négociation entre le procureur et l'avocat du DJ, ce chef d'inculpation a été abandonné. En contrepartie, Buju Banton s'engage à ne plus demander à faire appel de sa condamnation pour possession et trafic de cocaïne.

Federal prosecutors have agreed to drop a firearms charge against Jamaican reggae star Buju Banton, who is already serving a 10-year sentence.
The U.S. Attorney's Office announced Thursday that a deal with Banton calls for his waiver of all future appeals related to his 2011 conviction on a cocaine distribution conspiracy charge.
Banton is scheduled to be released from federal prison in January 2019, at which time he will be deported to his native Jamaica.
Banton's attorneys previously argued that he should be released early under a change in federal drug sentencing guidelines. But the change didn't apply to most minimum mandatory sentences.
Banton's 10-year sentence is the minimum mandatory sentence for his conviction stemming from a 2009 arrest following a sting operation.Associated Press
